HAVING POWER TO GET WEALTH By Felix N.Jarikre.

There’s no question that many people today have gotten wealth by the “power and might of their own hand”, neglecting or paying lip-service to God in the process. It is natural on their part to boast in what they have achieved, even while putting up a front of false humility. They are not religious about anything except how to make money. Indeed, what is hard to dispute is that many successful people today, celebrated for their wealth and innovation, can at best be described as atheists, agnostics or Satan-worshippers. It is certainly true that people can become very wealthy while rejecting and mocking the knowledge of God. Cain, the first person in the Bible, to shed his brother’s blood, was exiled from God’s presence when he built a great city!

So for many, getting wealth definitely is not a measure of their religious piety. Yet there is a group of people on earth today that are not allowed to get wealth by their natural strength. The world knows them generically as Christians, but in reality, they are aliens on earth. They must be afflicted and tested harshly until they come to the end of themselves: where they would say in humble submission: “ For by strength shall no man prevail.” (see I Samuel 2:9)

Fearful of afflictions, and unable to endure trials and conflicts, overtime, majority of these aliens (Biblical term: “strangers and pilgrims”) have struggled with poverty and destitution. They have been able to rationalize their slavery mentality and learned to cope with scarcity management, not because God ordained it to be so, but indeed, they are trapped by their fears.

I know this post is going to make many people to be angry and uncomfortable. Am I troubled that I might lose some fans? Seriously, no! I have come to the deep conviction that this is  the time to be categorical, instead of equivocating.

With the rise of ISIS, Boko Haram under the flag of Islamic terrorism, and religious freedom under threat everywhere, people can no longer afford to wallow in ignorance and evil speculations. At the risk of sounding preachy, or being accused of foisting my beliefs on an unsuspecting public, for too long, these so-called aliens have embraced too many errors concerning their true status and hidden potentials. Having been made ineffectual, it is easy to misrepresent them.

Now let me say this: I’m firmly convinced that for the covenant-minded Christian, prosperity is not an option, but an ordination. To embrace poverty is to reject holiness. To glorify poverty is to call God a fool. To embrace poverty and slavery mentality is to despise your glorious inheritance. You stand the risk of becoming a pauper when you doubt God’s plan to prosper you. To be comfortable with poverty and slavery mentality because of your prevarication is to provoke God to be your adversary. Clearly, you jeopardize your divine inheritance when you question God’s plan to prosper you. To reject prosperity because of unbelief is to provoke God’s anger.

Now God wants to give you power to get wealth instead of you pushing to make wealth by your own strength. There’s a difference.

We find in Numbers 13 and 14 of the Bible that twelve capable and qualified ruling princes were selected to search and bring report of the land that flowed with milk and honey. See how the possibilities of the land were described in Deut.8:7-14; 17-18.

For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths, that spring out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates, a land of oil olive and honey. A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shall not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments and his judgements, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: Lest when thou hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein; and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage... And thou say in thine heart, my power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Awesome! Think of it. A land where the people would build and dwell in marble palaces; where their gold and silver would be multiplied, and other resources multiplied beyond measure; a land where they would eat bread without scarceness, and shall not lack any good thing. A land of total abundance! This land was already given to Abraham, their ancestor, for their inheritance by God through the mechanism of a promise and an oath.

For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, saying, surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater; and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold up on the hope set before us. (Heb.6:13-18)

Now digest what you just read slowly, deliberately and steadily! Because if there is one thing you cannot afford to neglect and forget, it is this next statement: So the people’s possession of this wealthy and resourceful land was tied to God’s honour and glory.

“ To think that wealth is something you acquire to reflect your personal glory is the kind of fraudulent thinking that makes the aliens on earth to lose easily the ferocious war against poverty.”

To end all strife, God gave an oath to confirm that the Abraham’s seed’s inheritance of the wealthy land was inexorable. The failure of Abraham’s seed to inherit and possess the land of wealth and plenty would make divine integrity to suffer erosion. (To be continued)
